AFMM-NZAMM Retreat
Over the years, the Australasian Faculty of Musculoskeletal Medicine (AFMM), has conducted Retreats during the year for musculoskeletal Fellows to present cases, topics and journal articles and to update musculoskeletal guidelines. Members of the NZAMM are now also invited to these Retreats. This is a wonderful CME opportunity to learn, discuss and further your interest in Musculoskeletal Medicine. The next Retreat is to be held on 25-27th August 2011 at the Chateau Tongariro. Members are welcomed to attend all or part of the Retreat.
2011 Manual Therapy Workshop
As part of the NZAMM’s educational program, a manual therapy workshop is held annually. This year, the workshop will be a half day one on the afternoon of Saturday 27th August 2011, at the conclusion of the Retreat at Chateau Tongariro. NZAMM members, Drs and will be conducting: an interactive workshop on manual therapy for the neck and low back “why patients fail to get better” - an empirical clinical (non-interventional) approach. Rick and Ian will share their wealth of experience to facilitate discussion and demonstration of manual therapy techniques with the workshop participants.
The Retreat combined with the Manual therapy workshop will arm you with the knowledge base and the manual skills to tackle a range of musculoskeletal presentations. Members are welcomed to attend.
GP Workshops
The GP workshop program has got underway. A workshop was held at the GP Conference in Rotorua in June. The next workshop will be an ACC sponsored shoulder workshop in Wellington on the morning of 13th August 2011. Wellington based GPs and physiotherapists have been invited. Musculoskeletal Physicians from around the country will participate in the presentation on diagnosis of shoulder problems and a practical workshop on shoulder examination and case discussions.
On 2-3 Sept 2011, at the RNZCGP Conference in Auckland, the NZAMM will present and conduct a workshop on shoulder and neck pain and conditions. Those attending will need to be conference registrants.
2011 Conference
The 2011 conference was organised by the Australian Association of Musculoskeletal Medicine, with the support of our organisation. The conference was held on 30 June to 3 July 2011 at the Novotel Rockford, Palm Cove, North Queensland. The conference was titled “Profiling Persistent Musculoskeletal Pain: Picking Winners. The NZAMM was proud to have the following members presenting at the conference: John and Anne MacVicar, James Watt, and John Lyftogt. There was a very good selection of presentations and workshops.
